Project Initiation
The initiation stage of a project determines the behaviour and scope of the project. If this stage is not performed well, it is unlikely that the project will be successful in meeting the required outcomes. The key project controls needed are an understanding of the business environment and ensuring that all necessary controls are incorporated into the project. The project initiation stage should produce a cohesive project plan that encompasses the project purpose; stakeholders and needs; project objectives; project deliverables; scope and the project charter.
